Browse the catalogue by style, mood and tempo

3 min read

Browse finds tracks by what they are like, not just their name: style, mood, era, language, season and tempo. Then add what you find to a playlist in one go.

Pick your tags

Open Browse and start typing in the Add a tag box: a style such as Jazz or Lo-fi, a mood such as Upbeat, an era, a language, or a season. Pick a suggestion and it becomes a chip. Add as many as you like. A track has to match every chip you add, so more chips means a tighter list.

Not sure what to type? Tap How to browse to see every tag, grouped by type. Tap any tag there to add it.

Leave tracks out

Next to each suggestion there is an Exclude button. An excluded tag shows as a red NOT chip, and tracks carrying that tag are left out. Tap any chip to switch it between included and excluded. Tap the cross to remove it.

Tempo and instrumental

Tempo

Drag the two ends of the slider to set a range in beats per minute, from 40 to 200. Around 60 to 90 suits a relaxed room, 120 and up suits a gym.

Instrumental only

Hides every track with vocals. If the list goes empty, this switch is usually why: turn it off, or tap Show tracks with vocals.

Seasonal and kids tags

Christmas, Halloween and other seasonal tags, and tags such as Kids, are opt-in. Their tracks never appear unless you add that tag yourself, so a search for Jazz does not fill up with Christmas jazz in December.

Add what you found to a playlist

1
Tap Select tracks (app) or tick the boxes on the rows (web). Select all ticks everything on the page.
2
Tap Add to playlist in the bar at the bottom and choose a playlist, or create a new one.
3
On the web you can also tap Favourite to add the selection to your favourites.

Results load 25 at a time. Tap Load more to see the next batch, and sort by newest or A to Z with the pills above the list.
