Melodial vs Moodby

Moodby is NZ$23.25 a month per zone on a yearly plan, or NZ$31 billed monthly. Like Melodial, Moodby licenses its own catalogue, so no OneMusic licence is needed for the music it plays. A café with a dining room and a terrace pays for two zones. Melodial Basic is $9.99 a month per location, offline playback and your Music Licence Certificate included, less than Moodby even on its yearly plan.

Same model, different price and features

Moodby plays its own royalty-free catalogue, as Melodial does, with 350 or more stations by its count, priced per zone with a five-day trial. Melodial plays its own catalogue, written and recorded for venues. Offline playback and the Music Licence Certificate come with every Melodial plan, and Melodial Plus adds AI voice announcements and scheduling by time of day.

Do I still need a OneMusic licence?

Not for the music you play through Melodial. Melodial owns every track outright, is not a member of any collecting society, and none of the catalogue is in any society's repertoire.

Your subscription is your licence, and your Music Licence Certificate is available from day one. If a society contacts you anyway, forward the letter to support@melodial.com within 14 days and we deal with them for you.

Other music (radio, Spotify, TV, CDs) is not covered.
