What Mood Media covers that Melodial does not

Mood Media's Signature and Engage plans play popular artists by name under licenses it holds, and Mood supplies its own in-store player. Fundamentals, the plan priced here, plays preprogrammed stations without popular artists. Melodial plays its own catalog, written and recorded for venues. If your business needs chart music by name, Mood Media Signature is the right product. If you need good background music that is licensed and costs $6.99, Melodial is.

How music licensing works in the US

Four organizations license the public performance of music in the United States: ASCAP, BMI, SESAC and GMR. Each represents different songwriters and publishers, and a venue playing mainstream music needs a license from all four. Fees are set per venue and rise with floor area, speakers, members or classes.

Melodial's catalog is owned by Melodial and is not registered with ASCAP, BMI, SESAC or GMR. Your subscription is the public performance license for every track you play through Melodial, and your Music License Certificate says so. Music from any other source (radio, Spotify, Pandora, CDs, live performers) is outside this license and still needs the organizations' licenses.
