Step 1: Open Melodial
On a phone or tablet, download the free Melodial app from the App Store or Google Play. On a computer, go to app.melodial.com in any browser. Both play the same music and use the same login.
Step 2: Sign in
Sign in with the email address you signed up with and the password you chose when you completed your registration. It is the same login for the app, the web player and your account page on melodial.com.
Forgotten your password? Tap Forgot password on the sign-in screen and we will email you a reset link. See the Account and password guide for the details.
Step 3: Tell us what kind of venue this is
The first time you sign in, Melodial asks What kind of venue is this? Pick the closest match: cafe, bar, gym, salon, retail and so on. Home then recommends radio stations and playlists for that type of business.
To change it later, open the web player, click the three dots next to your name, choose Account details, and pick a different Venue type. The app cannot change it.
Step 4: Find your way around
The app has four tabs along the bottom. In a browser they sit in the menu on the left.
Home
What is playing now, recommendations for your type of business, the Popular and New playlists, and what you played recently.
Radio
Curated stations that play all day with no setup. Pick one that matches your vibe and energy level and leave it running.
Playlists
Your own playlists first, then our playlists by genre. Filter them by business type, or show instrumental playlists only.
Browse
Search the whole catalogue by style, mood, era, language, season and tempo, then add what you find to a playlist.
The magnifying glass at the top searches tracks, playlists, genres and radio stations by name.
Step 5: Keep the music playing all day
Open any playlist or station and tap Play all or Shuffle. The list plays through and starts again from the top, so it never runs dry. Playback keeps going in the background if your phone locks, and every track is volume-levelled, so there are no loud-quiet jumps between songs.
Step 6: Add voice announcements (optional)
Turn a line of text into a professional AI voice announcement that plays between your tracks, no recording equipment needed. See the voice announcements guide for how to create one.
Step 7: Get your Music Licence Certificate
In the web player, click the three dots next to your name, choose Account details, enter your business details, and download or email the certificate. In the app, tap the person icon, then Account details, then Email certificate. It proves your music is fully licensed for commercial use. The Licensing and certificates guide has the details.
Data usage
Melodial streams at 128kbps, roughly 60MB an hour, so it is very light on WiFi or mobile data.
