Instructor-led classes sit outside most music licenses
Business music services that bundle US performing rights exclude instructed classes. Rockbot's license "does not cover any instructed fitness classes or other activities where music is integral to the activity" (Rockbot subscriber terms). Mood Media's terms say its music must not be used to accompany "instructed health club classes" (Mood Media terms).
A gym that runs classes to mainstream music therefore needs its own fitness licenses. ASCAP's 2026 schedule starts at $545 a year for group classes (ASCAP 2026 fitness rates); BMI's minimum is $420 a year per location (BMI 2025–26 fitness rates). SESAC and GMR are on top of that.
Melodial owns every track and registers none with a performing rights organization. Your subscription is the license for classes, open mat and the front desk, as long as you play Melodial.
Playlists with rhythm for every round
Driving instrumental playlists for conditioning, technique work and open mat, with no vocals competing with coaching cues.
Arpeggiated synths, hard-edged drums and long builds that keep pushing forward.
Repetitive, hypnotic and mechanical, with a kick that never wavers and no voice anywhere.
Tight hats, rolling bass and a groove that stays exactly where it is.
Clavinet, wah guitar and a bass line that will not sit still, with no vocal on top.
For a class to be covered by our license, every track in it has to come from Melodial.

How it fits your gym's day
Kids' classes, adult technique, conditioning and open mat all want something different.
- Kids' and technique classes. Greasy Funk Instrumentals keeps a steady groove under the class without any lyrics.
- Conditioning and bag work. Afterhours Instrumentals and Pulsewave Instrumentals bring the drive for rounds on the heavy bag.
- Open mat. Warehouse Instrumentals holds a steady groove while members drill at their own pace.
Coaches can switch playlists between classes from the app on Basic. With Melodial Plus, $13.99 a month per location or zone, music can change automatically by time of day, and you can add voice announcements such as belt-test reminders.

What to show an inspector
If someone from a licensing organization asks what licenses cover your classes, show them your Music License Certificate. It names your gym and location and states that the music is licensed directly by Melodial, its owner. Don't pay or sign anything at the door; send the details to support@melodial.com within 14 days and we'll respond for you.
Covers Melodial music only. Radio, TV, personal streaming apps and other music still need licenses from the performing rights organizations.
Questions we get
