Before you start
Make sure your speaker is charged or plugged in and turned on. Have the Melodial app or web player ready on your phone. These steps work with any Bluetooth speaker, including JBL, Bose, UE, Sony, Marshall, Harman Kardon, and Anker.
Step 1: Put your speaker in pairing mode
Every speaker has a pairing mode that makes it discoverable. The method varies by brand, but it is almost always one of these:

| Harman Kardon | Press the Bluetooth button. The LED flashes blue when pairing mode is active. |
| Anker Soundcore | Press and hold the Bluetooth button for 3 seconds. The LED flashes blue and white. |
| Any other brand | Look for a button with the Bluetooth symbol and press and hold it until a light flashes. Check the speaker manual if you are not sure. |
A rapidly flashing blue or white LED, a tone, or a spoken "ready to pair" message all mean the speaker is discoverable. A solid, non-flashing LED usually means it is already connected to something else, so disconnect that device first.
Step 2: Connect from an iPhone or iPad
Your iPhone remembers paired speakers. Next time, just turn the speaker on and it should reconnect automatically. If not, open Bluetooth settings and tap the speaker name again, no need to re-pair.
Step 2: Connect from an Android phone
Your Android phone remembers paired speakers too. Turn the speaker on next time and it should reconnect on its own. If it does not, open Bluetooth settings and tap the speaker name.
No Bluetooth? Use a cable
A wired connection is actually more reliable than Bluetooth for all-day business use since it will not drop out or lose its pairing.
My phone cannot find the speaker
Make sure the speaker is in pairing mode (LED flashing, not solid) and that your phone Bluetooth is on. Most speakers only stay in pairing mode for one to three minutes before timing out, so press the Bluetooth button again if needed. Stay within about 10 metres of the speaker. If the speaker was previously connected to a different phone, it may reconnect to that phone instead, so turn off Bluetooth on the other device or forget the speaker in its settings.
It says Connected but no sound comes out
Check the volume on both your phone and the speaker, and make sure Melodial is actually playing. On iPhone, check Control Centre to confirm audio is routing to the Bluetooth speaker rather than the phone.
The speaker keeps connecting to another device
Most speakers automatically reconnect to the last device they paired with. Turn off Bluetooth on that other device, or forget the speaker in its Bluetooth settings, then connect from your phone.
The music keeps cutting out or stuttering
This is usually a range issue, so stay within about 10 metres and avoid walls or obstructions between the phone and speaker. WiFi, microwaves, and other wireless devices can interfere too. If it keeps happening, try the wired AUX connection instead.
How do I disconnect?
Turn off the speaker, or go to your phone Bluetooth settings and tap the speaker name to disconnect. On iPhone, tap the info icon next to the speaker name, then tap Disconnect.
Can I connect two Bluetooth speakers at the same time?
Most phones only support one Bluetooth audio connection at a time. Some newer Samsung and Pixel phones support a dual audio option in Bluetooth settings. Some speaker brands, including JBL and UE, also have their own app for pairing two speakers of the same brand together.
