Playback schedule

Schedule what plays and when

3 min read

Play the right music at the right time of day without anyone touching the player: breakfast, lunch, evening, or a different playlist on weekends.

Open the schedule

In the web player, click the three dots next to your name and choose Playback schedule. In the app it is under the person icon. The first time, Melodial asks you to confirm your timezone, because every slot is in your venue’s local time.

Add a slot

1
Click Add slot.
2
Choose what plays: a playlist, a radio station or a genre. Use the filter box to find it quickly.
3
Pick the days of the week and the start and end time.
4
Choose what happens if music is already playing when the slot starts: cut the current track immediately, or let it finish first.
5
Turn on Shuffle if you want the slot to play in a different order each time it runs.
6
Save. Slots cannot overlap, so Melodial tells you if two clash.

How a schedule behaves

When a slot starts, the player switches to it on its own. When the last slot of the day ends, playback stops. Between slots you can play anything by hand.

A slot can be switched off without deleting it: turn off its Enabled switch. Turn it back on when you need it again.

The schedule runs on the device that is signed in and open. Keep the app or the browser tab open on the device that plays your music.

Schedules on Melodial Plus

An admin can set the schedule for every location from Manage organization, then the Schedules tab. A location can only change its own schedule if the admin has left May edit own schedule switched on for it. With Allow manual play switched off as well, the location plays its schedule and nothing else.
