Troubleshooting

Quick fixes for the most common issues. If your problem is not listed here, get in touch and we will sort it out.

Members only message, but I am subscribed

This usually means the player is not seeing your active account. It almost always a login or browser issue rather than a lapsed subscription.

1
Log out and log back in at melodial.com/account/login, using the same email your subscription is under.
2
Try a different browser such as Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. If it works there, the issue is your original browser cache or cookies.
3
Try an incognito or private window to rule out extensions or cached data.
4
Disable ad blockers or privacy extensions temporarily, as they can interfere with the player.

If none of that works, email hello@melodial.com with the email you use for Melodial and a screenshot, and we will check the account link on our side.

Music buffering or cutting out on WiFi

Melodial streams at 128kbps, roughly 1MB per minute or about 60MB per hour. Most WiFi handles this easily, so buffering is usually a signal strength issue.

1
Move closer to your router, or move the router closer to your playback device. Walls, fridges, and kitchen equipment weaken the signal.
2
Download tracks for offline playback so playback does not depend on a live connection.
3
Use the mobile app rather than the web player where you can, it handles a patchy connection more reliably.

Music stops when I lock my phone

Background playback is supported on both iOS and Android, so this is almost always a battery-optimisation setting getting in the way, not a bug.

1
iOS: check Background App Refresh is turned on for Melodial in Settings.
2
Android: turn off battery optimisation for Melodial in your device settings.
3
Avoid swiping the app closed from your recent apps list, that stops background playback outright.

Cancelling your subscription

Cancel any time from your account dashboard. Access continues until the end of your current billing period, so you keep playing the music you have already paid for.

Good to know

Your licence covers you internationally, wherever your business plays Melodial. For reference, an 8-hour business day uses roughly 480MB of data.

In practice it is often less than that: the app automatically downloads tracks to your device, so it is not re-streaming the same track over your internet connection every time it repeats. You can turn this off in Settings if you would rather it always stream fresh.
